Starting with the Founding Partners, Jeff Gindin is one of Canada’s most experienced lawyers. Jeff is renowned as holding the coveted King’s Counsel designation which is why the letters “KC” are beside his name. Jeff Gindin has served countless clients at all levels of court in Canada, including the Supreme Court. Jeff Gindin has shaped the direction of the law in Canada for over 50 years and is a sought-after educator who teaches at Manitoba’s Law School, Robson Hall.
Shimon Segal – (Founding Partner) has practiced alongside Jeff Gindin and other award-winning King’s Counsel and top-tier senior lawyers his entire career. Shimon Segal brings practical experience to Canada’s Criminal and Immigration courts and this experience makes a difference. Shimon Segal is a seasoned system navigator who understands the use of power by the Winnipeg Police, RCMP, and the Crown prosecutors as well as agencies like Child and Family Services.
Having been friends and colleagues since 2012, Jeff Gindin and Shimon Segal opened Gindin Segal Law in 2021 which has since grown to be Gindin Wiebe Segal Law when Gerri Wiebe joined the ownership of the firm in late 2023.

Nalini Reddy is a self-made and fierce advocate. Nalini is highly sought after for full-service Immigration Law. Nalini has defined herself as an experienced immigration lawyer after many years with the Department of Justice and then as private immigration counsel. Immigration and Criminal law constantly intersect and far too often immigration issues come as an afterthought to the Criminal process. Leading up to the formation of Gindin Wiebe Segal Law, Nalini Reddy and Shimon Segal worked together complimenting each other’s practices and finding new and creative ways to ensure the best possible results for Immigration Services to be delivered seamlessly with Criminal Defence.
Mark Wasyliw joined Gindin Wiebe Segal in 2023 and brings vast knowledge and experience as a senior criminal litigator. Mark has a known presence both in Winnipeg, as well as the courts of rural Manitoba where he has specialized in Impaired Driving matters with a success rate far better than any expected odds. Mark exemplifies the idea that the true meaning of protected rights is the extent to which a court will uphold them.
Chad Sutherland was head-hunted by Gindin Wiebe Segal Law because of his experience in Criminal Law and Child Protection Law. Chad’s natural chemistry at the firm and courtroom success have made him a perfect fit. Chad Sutherland was born in Canada’s “oil belt” and raised in a blue-collar rural community. Chad was a construction project manager and carpenter – turned lawyer and advocate. Chad is a great listener and a natural with clients from every background and community.
Jason Poettker came to Gindin Wiebe Segal Law by way of his reputation and established work ethic. Jason brings experience from all over Manitoba and shows unique dedication. Ashley Fouad has what it takes. Ashley was initially hired as an articling student but immediately showed unprecedented courtroom awareness. Ashley has since been in more trials and handled more complex matters than many local lawyers with multiple years at the bar. Ashley handles witnesses like a seasoned advocate and was offered a permanent place in Gindin Wiebe Segal after only a few impactful months flexing her courtroom skills. Ashley has an interest in building criminal practice as well as using her talent towards immigration and refugee matters.
Melina Venuto finished law school in 2022 and was capable of more still. Awarded for her work in Human Rights and Civil Liberties, her specialization in International Law and Security procured her Masters of Law in Scotland in 2023. Melina is fervently dedicated to protecting rights and insisting on fairness. She will begin her articles in early 2024 and is already on her way to a career with Gindin Wiebe Segal Law.
Breanne Law, Alli Koostra, and Melanie May, are the legal assistants of Gindin Wiebe Segal Law. Breanne has worked alongside Shimon Segal her whole legal career. She was sought after to join Gindin Wiebe Segal Law and has the unique ability to manage conversations in many languages and across many cultures. Alli Koostra brings a wealth of experience to the Gindin Wiebe Segal team and was welcomed in 2023.
